BALTIC WRECK WEEK

OVERVIEW

Over years, Polish Coastline witnessed many ships sinking due to: military operations, collisions and storms.

It is estimated that there are from 8000 to 100 000 shipwrecks spread in the Baltic Sea. Many of them are poorly documented. Many of them are still to be discovered…

Thanks to the unique water properties (low salinity), the old wooden shipwrecks that sunk hundreds of years ago are still in excellent condition.

We want to share with you the history and beauty of the Baltic Wrecks over a week of dives at GUE Recreational Level.

WHY?

Because it’s fun!

Something that at the first glance looks like a rock can surprise you with plenty of details and historical artefacts. Baltic Sea is a demanding environment for divers. Nevertheless, the dives in our waters are very rewarding and exciting.

Our sea provides you also with an excellent opportunity to reinforce your diving skills in the scope of teamwork, navigation, communication and more.

HOW?

We are planning for 5 diving days (10 dives) – dives on wrecks in the Nitrox 32 range. We will start from our base in Gdansk and dive in the Bay of Gdansk.

After that we will move to the port of Wladyslawowo and dive in the open sea.

  • Main objective: to have fun and enjoy the Baltic Sea!
  • Secondary objective: to develop your diving capacities (we will run workshops for those who are interested)
  • Tertiary objective: collecting images and detailed descriptions of the points of interest of the local dive sites

Check the potential wrecks in our area: https://wrakibaltyku.pl/en.html

WHO CAN JOIN?

This dive week is reserved to divers on a minimum level of GUE REC1 or equivalent.
Drysuit diving experience is highly recommended.

DATES AND LOGISTICS

Our dive shop is located close to the city center of Gdańsk. We provide gas fills (Nx and Tmx), equipment rental including twinsets, stage tanks, v-weights etc.

We are planning to execute  5 diving days:

  • 11st August 2023 – 2 check dives and workshops (dives from the shore).
  • 12th August 2023 – departure from the Port of Gdańsk + 2 wreck dives + night in Wladyslawowo.
  • 13-14 th August 2023 – 2 dives per day from the Port of Wladyslawowo
  • 15 th August 2023 – coming back to Gdansk with 1 dive on the way back as an option.

Boat:
THORR is a former partol boat (WISLOKA Class) of the Polish Maritime Border Guard, taken over by a private owner and accommodated as a diving expedition vessel. It is equipped with a lift, benches, barbeque and compressor.

Accommodation (we can make all the reservations for you):

Important note:

Baltic Sea is very unpredictible. Therefore, we need to be flexible and adapt to the conditions. There might be a day that we are not able to dive in the sea due to the rough conditions. It would be perfect to dive all the 5 days in the row from the boat but if it happens that the sea is too rough, we can pick up an alternative dive spot available from the shore or visit local touristic attractions (see below).

There are many ways to get to Gdańsk. Please have a look here:
